Richard Séguin

by Robert Nickford

Richard Séguin has received several music industry awards, with some of his albums certified platinum for sales of over 100,000 copies in Canada. His music career began in the early 1970s with his twin sister, Marie-Claire.

I first met Richard when he was 19 years old. I liked him instantly, his candor was overwhelming. He and his sister were about to sign a recording contract with Warner Bros. Records in Montreal and had no idea what they were signing. The Warner Bros. contract was in English, a language they neither spoke nor read. Without legal representation, they asked me to translate the agreement, which I did. Against my recommendation, they signed without negotiating any of the clauses. After recording two albums for Warner Bros., they joined my Kot'ai label and recorded Récoltes de rêves, a classic.

Stay tuned for the rest of the story.
